10.4.4. Blended learning

Although e-learning has a huge potential for revolutionizing teaching and learning, it has rapidly attached to the concept of blended learning, which mix online learning with traditional methods for instruction. It represents an opportunity to integrate the innovative pedagogical and technological advances with vibrant interaction and collaboration offered by the best traditional instruction.
 
Besides of enhancement of personalization, blended learning augments also the teaching opportunities and the resources in instruction. Integration of various methods to deliver learning and to incorporate it in the daily working schedule provides a consistent solution for education in the long run from organizations’ point of view. We can affirm that in the near future education and training will merge. As opposite to their traditional role, universities will become course vendors to industry and vice versa: much standard university curriculum will be taught in course developed by private training departments or organizations. Continuing education will become a reality, as universities and private industry will acknowledge that education continues uninterruptedly throughout life.

Citibank e-ETM: E-Learning Sales Program for Expanded Target Markets

Blending online and onsite learning experiences
The Citicorp Latin America Training & Development Center developed "e-ETM (E-Learning Sales Program for Expanded Target Markets)," a voluntary, self-paced sales training program for 140 sales people in 13 countries. The e-ETM program includes a collection of 15 web learning modules developed in Spanish plus supporting material for supervisors for coaching and follow-up.
 
Successful Results
The e-ETM project has been quite successful. So far, over one-third of the target audience has participated in these voluntary modules. Each learner has attempted about seven of the fifteen modules with a completion ratio of 80%. In one country, where limited bandwidth keeps people from accessing e-ETM during business hours, some learners are coming in on weekends to complete the modules.
 
Century 21: CREATE 21

Career Real Estate Agent Training and Education
Century 21 developed CREATE 21 as a blended training program to boost sales performance for new real estate agents. This blended program transforms and improves upon the best of the legacy onsite instructor-led training. It includes both live and self-paced online learning experiences, pre- and post-work, and a packet for the broker/managers to help them coach their agents during the training program and beyond.
 
SuccessfulResults
Agents who have completed CREATE 21 have shown a marked improvement in productivity over agents who completed the legacy program (21Plus). In a year over year study, agents who completed CREATE 21 where found to be approximately 33% more profitable (in AGC or adjusted gross commissions) in their first 180 days than graduates of 21Plus were in their first 180 days.
